Fruits and vegetables shipped in from India to ensure ample supply for Vishu celebrations

Pan-GCC supermarket operator Lulu Group has airfreighted more than 3,000 tonnes of produce from India to its stores across the region in preparation for Vishu, an important festival in the Malayali community.
According to a report from Gulf News, fruits, vegetables and traditional essentials were flown in from Kerala, including products such as jackfruit, banana leaves and coconuts, which play an important role in festive arrangements and meals.
Most of the produce has been sourced directly from farmers through Lulu’s Fair Exports Division, to enable faster movement from farms in Kerala to retail shelves across the Gulf while supporting export-linked agricultural supply chains.
Lulu Group has also deployed dedicated sections and displays stocking Vishu essentials across its stores to draw in additional footfall and meet a growing demand for ready-to-serve festive options among expatriate households.
Yusuffali M A, chairman of Lulu Group, assured customers of adequate stock and stable pricing during the festive period, signalling a focus on maintaining availability despite the scale of logistics involved.
