Italian fresh produce cooperative confirms it has parted ways with long-serving commercial leader

Augusto Renella has departed Italian fruit and vegetable cooperative Naturitalia, where he worked for more than two decades, most recently as export coordinator and marketing R&D manager.
An expert in agribusiness, marketing, food retail, and the new digital economy, Renella began working with producer organisation Apo Conerpo in 2000, three years before it undertook a wide-sweeping reorganisation that led to the creation of two separate business units, Naturitalia and Alegra.
From Naturitalia’s creation in 2003, he was responsible for marketing, research and development, with responsibility for managing various product development and commercial projects.
And in 2015, he was officially given the role of export manager, having already proven himself a key member of the company’s management team and contributing to its marketing and commercial development, particularly in international markets.
In a statement, Renella hinted that his departure represented the closing of a major chapter in the group’s history.
“I would like to express my sincere thanks to Naturitalia, the board of directors, the shareholders, and all the colleagues with whom I have shared this long journey,” Renella commented.
“I am satisfied with the commercial and development goals we have achieved together, the result of teamwork and a shared vision. I leave this company with the hope that the foundations built over the years will guide the group towards further development.”

End of an era
The company itself, meanwhile, said Renella’s departure marked a natural end to a corporate cycle – one that included strengthening the company’s overseas business, as well as renewing its marketing strategy and corporate identity, which it did in 2025.
“On behalf of the company, I would like to thank Augusto Renella for his work and his contribution over the years,” said general manager Gabriele Ferri. “Naturitalia looks to the future challenges by leveraging a solid organisational structure, well-defined growth objectives, and new commercial projects designed to respond to market evolution.
“We will continue to invest in innovation and product development, with the aim of strengthening the value created together with our shareholders, producers, collaborators, and commercial partners.”
Naturitalia came into existence in 2003, after a decision was made to split various operations belonging to Apo Conerpo group.
That saw the creation of two disinct business units – Naturitalia and Alegra – with different commercial models.
