Swansea-based biologicals technology manufacturer Bionema Group is seeking new technology, licensing and distribution partners as it looks to expand the global reach of its crop protection and plant health platforms.

Founded in 2012 as a spin-out from Swansea University, Bionema develops biological solutions for agriculture, including biopesticides, biostimulants and biofertilisers.

The company is inviting potential partners to explore opportunities to access three of its core technology platforms: Incapsulex, a microencapsulation technology designed to protect biological active ingredients and control their release, Adhesulex, a delivery and surfactant technology developed to improve consistency of field performance, and BiofilmTech, a platform based on biofertiliser development and soil health.

Bionema’s move comes amid growing interest in partnership and licensing models across the global crop protection industry, as companies look to accelerate the development and commercialisation of biological products without relying solely on in-house research and development.

Through technology licensing and strategic collaborations, Bionema aims to work with businesses that have established manufacturing capabilities, regulatory expertise and commercial networks, enabling its platforms to reach new markets and growers.

Dr Minshad Ansari, founder and CEO of Bionema Group, said: “We built Bionema’s platforms, Incapsulex, Adhesulex and BiofilmTech, to solve the formulation and delivery problems that limit the field performance of biological actives, whether ours or a partner’s.

“We see a clear role for Bionema as a technology partner: licensing proven platforms to companies that already have the registration, manufacturing and commercial reach to bring them to farmers faster than we could alone,” he added.
