Leading supply chain consultant Procure4 has appointed ex-Compass purchasing director Craig Warhurst to head up its fresh food consulting.
Craig had been overseeing sales, marketing and product development at Food Partners for the last 19 months, having previously worked as purchasing director for Compass Group in the UK and several European countries.
The appointment of Warhurst comes as Procure4 is working with major clients in Britain and Europe on supply chain cost mitigation in food categories and developing a significant food distribution project in the Middle East.
“There is no doubt that there is a trend towards direct relations with growers and reducing the links in the supply chain to manage costs” said Warhurst. “The impact of bio-fuels and inflation, especially in fresh produce, is a big problem faced by many end users.”
Procure4’s managing director, Nigel Scorey, said: “Craig brings a huge amount of experience in fresh produce markets throughout Europe to Procure4 and his unrivalled expertise in purchasing and distribution will be applied in the client work he will be taking on here.”
