Ryanair is looking into offering more fruit and vegetables on its menu in a bid to get more passengers onto its planes.

Neil Sorahan, chief financial officer, told the Evening Standard that such a proposal could form part of a host of new measures to be introduced in the next six months to help the airline meet annual passenger targets of 180 million by 2024.

The airline raised its passenger numbers target for the year to March 31 2016 by one million to 105 million passengers - up 16 per cent on last year.

“Everyone is getting conscious of being more healthy: you might see a bit more green on the [new] menus,” Sorahan said.

Better seating and new cabin crew uniforms could also be introduced alongside healthier in-flight menus, Sorahan told the Standard.

The company, which operates over 1,800 flights daily, is due to expand further, with new bases opening in Berlin, Gothenburg, Corfu and Milan.
