AC Goatham & Son has been named Overall Fresh Produce Business of the Year at the FPC Fresh Awards in London.
FPC chief executive Nigel Jenney said Goatham had showed “a commitment to sharing the benefits of trading relationships”, which had been central to its success.
Fresca Group executive chairman Chris Mack collected the Lifetime Achievement award for his years of work in the business.
Other winners on the night included, in the individual categories, Victoria Mason, a buyer at The Waitrose Garden, who was named Young Person of the Year; and James Judd, category manager for fresh produce at Morrisons, who went home with the Manager of the Year trophy.
In the supply chain excellence categories, Nationwide Produce was best Wholesale Supplier, GT Flowers got the nod for Floral Supplier, best Foodservice Supplier was Mack Southampton and Goatham was named best Supermarket Supplier.
In the retailer section, Rhubarb & Bramley took the crown for Independent Retailer and Tesco Express walked away with the Convenience Retailer title.
In a good night for Britain’s biggest supermarket, Tesco was also named Floral Retailer of the Year, while Asda was Multiple Retailer of the Year in categories voted for by the public online.
Other winners on the night included Aldi (Marketing Campaign), Albert Bartlett (CSR), Thanet Earth & Hadlow College (Innovation), Worldwide Fruit (Best Place to Work) and Westlands (Best Stand at the London Produce Show).
