A study conducted by a Dutch consumer group has revealed what most growers have long suspected. Conventionally-grown vegetables equally as healthy as their organic counterparts.
The consumer group Consumentenbond said its research had found organic vegetables cannot be claimed to contain more vitamins, minerals or antioxidants.
One Dutch newspaper reported on Thursday that Consumentenbond will publish its full findings today (Friday).
The study, which looked at 15 vegetables, including broccoli, chicory and cucumber, also investigated the respective merits of organic and conventional tomatoes. In all cases, there was no significant distinction in the amount of healthy materials.
