On-pack promotions will support the competition

The Co-operative is supporting UK growers by launching a competition that celebrates home-grown salad ranges, while giving shoppers the chance to win an iconic, British-themed mini.

Co-operative customers will get the chance to win one of three British-themed minis or one of 100 8GB iPod Nano’s as part of the competition, which is running in all Co-operative and Somerfield stores from now until and 6 July 2010.

The promotion can be found on all of its British six packs of tomatoes, mixed peppers, and iceberg lettuces. To be in with a chance of winning, customers need to visit the website www.co-opbestofbritish.co.uk and enter the promotional code on their salad packaging, keeping hold of their till receipt as proof of purchase.

The offer excludes employees of The Co-operative Group, the promoter and anyone professionally connected with the promotion.

Mike Peters, category trading manager for produce, said: “The Co-operative listened to feedback from customers who wanted to buy more seasonal salad that is grown in Britain. The range of British grown salads has increased in our stores and includes, tomatoes, peppers, lettuce, cucumbers, celery, radish, cress, spring onions, beetroot and growing herbs and is available across Co-operative and Somerfield stores in the UK.”
