Australia’s avocado industry has seen significant export growth in recent years. In the 2023/24 season Australia exported almost 22,000 tonnes, or 14.6 per cent of its 150,913 tonne-crop – a seven-fold increase in just three years, according to data from Avocados Australia.

This growth in current markets is expected to continue, year-on-year while the industry body is also committed to opening up new markets.

“We will be delivering marketing and trade engagement programmes with an always-on approach to support our overseas partners to help us increase Australian avocados’ market share,” said Avocados Australia CEO, John Tyas.

He added that the industry body will also be working closely with export partners to support this goal.

Throughout the 2025/26 season, Australian avocados’ international marketing teams will deliver a comprehensive B2B and B2C programme to support Australian avocado exports throughout the year. The marketing campaign will focus on retail and foodservice sectors in key markets such as Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia, and the Middle East, showcasing the varied use cases for the fruit.

Avocados Australia will also continue to highlight the regions premium quality fruit.

“Despite the recent dry conditions trees are healthy, and the fruit is of excellent quality,” said Kym Thiel, an Australian avocado grower-packer and exporter based in the Tristate growing region of this season’s crop.

Brad Rodgers, a grower based in Western Australia is also expecting a high-quality harvest.

“I have a very positive outlook on the season and I’m expecting excellent quality fruit,” Rodgers said.
