Representatives of the Mexican Association of Protected Horticulture (Amhpac) and the Mexican Association of Food Banks (Amba) have signed an agreement in Guadalajara to donate vegetables to those in need across Mexico.
The collaboration is designed to support the most vulnerable groups in the North American country by improving their nutrition and quality of life.
Under the deal, Amhpac will encourage its members located throughout Mexico to donate healthy food to the 61 food banks affiliated with Amba.
The signing of the agreement was attended by Carlos Cueto Rodríguez and Alfredo Díaz Belmontes, president of director general of Amhpac respectively, as well as the director general of Amba, José Antonio Magdaleno Velasco.
Amhpac represents more than 280 members in 25 states across Mexico who are involved in the production, packing, distribution and marketing of fresh vegetables grown under greenhouses, shadehouses or other protected environments.
During the meetings, Amhpac took the opportunity to invite attendees to the next Amhpac Annual Congress, which takes place on 29-30 August at the Sheraton Hotel Buganvilias in Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco.
