Sol Group, the leading grower, packer and shipper of melons, has announced its entry into the production and marketing of summer melons.
According to the company, Sol’s summer programme will include cantaloupes and honeydews, and through a joint-venture with Milas and Diana Russell, it will offer the full line of Kiss melons, which includes Sugar Kiss, Summer Kiss, Honey Kiss, and Golden Kiss.
Sol Group is a leading grower and supplier of melons during the offshore season, and by entering the summer season, it is now able to offer a year-round supply of melons and consolidate its position in the melon category.
“We’re excited to offer retailers our first summer melon programme with the same quality and dependability Sol Group provides during the winter season,” said Juan Carlo Blanco, Sol’s head of operations.
“Our customers have been asking us for a full year supply for some years now and we’re happy to respond to their request. They no longer need to switch to a different supplier during the summer months.”
All melons offered in the summer programme are grown in Yuma, Arizona, and Southern California, and will be available starting mid-May.
