Mastronardi vegetables

US vegetable grower-marketer Mastronardi Produce has been handed a prestigious award that recognises its innovation in developing new vegetable products.

Food & Beverage Magazine announced recently that Mastronardi had landed the top 2010 Innovation Award in its Hydroponic Produce category, for its emphasis on unique new products in tomatoes, peppers and cucumbers.

'We continue our worldwide research and development each year of unique, flavourful, gourmet varieties,' said group president Paul Mastronardi. 'It is with great pleasure that we accept this Innovation Award as the leading innovator in 2010 for hydroponic produce.'

A panel of judges within the magazine dedicated a month to researching products, features and designs before making the decision, sifting through a number of products that had gone 'above and beyond' expectations in innovation.

'Each year, Food & Beverage Executive Magazine honours the leaders in their respective industries as innovators,' said Gerard Vander Schauw, publisher of Food & Beverage Executive. 'We are pleased to award Mastronardi for their innovation in the hydroponic produce.'

Among some of the nationally recognised products grown and marketed by Mastronardi under its SUNSET brand include the Campari Tomato, Splendido Grape Tomato, Kumato brown tomato, Ancient Sweet Peppers, and an extensive line of conventional and organic vegetables.
