Italian marketing agency Centro Servizi Ortofrutticoli (CSO) plans to unveil a new national brand for the country's fresh produce at this year's Asia Fruit Logistica trade fair in Hong Kong.

The brand, which remains under wraps at the time of writing, will be used by the agency at international events including trade fairs to highlight what the group's head of international promotions Federico Milanese describes as the 'beauty of quality' that CSO members feel represents the country's unique selling point on the world stage.

Milanese, who joined earlier in the year following its takeover of his previous employer, the trade consortium Mediterranean Fruit Company, said he sees continued signs of growth potential for the Italian trade in Asia.

'We will have a great number of co-exhibitors at Asia Fruit Logistica that wantto increase their exports to the region, especially for yellow and green kiwifruit, Abate pears, plums, apples, pears, oranges and grapes,' he told Asiafruit.

Among this year's exhibitors will be some of the biggest names in the Italian trade – Alegra, Apofruit, Frutta C2, Granfrutta Zani, Lagnasco, Made in Blu, Modì Europa, Naturitalia, Oranfrizer, TC Frutta and Salvi Unacoa, a roster that serves to underline the value now placed on supplying Asian customers.

Asia Fruit Logistica takes place alongside the Asiafruit Congress at the AsiaWorld-Expo in Hong Kong on 5-7 September 2012.
