The Russian food embargo on the EU, US, Canada, Australia and Norway could push Chinese exports to Russia through the 3bn yuan mark this year, according to one expert.
Cao Xinyi told China Daily that the Russian ban will result in the growth of fruit and vegetable supplies from China.
Xinyi, general manager of Dili Group’s subsidiary in Mudanjiang is engaged in the establishment of a Russian-Chinese vegetableand fruit trade zone, and feels that exports to Russia could soar by 80 per cent.
He told the publication that exports had already been 'gaining momentum' and added that they would become stronger in the second half of the year.
