Belgian cooperative BelOrta has added Flower Sprouts, a cross between Brussels sprouts and kale, to its range this autumn in order to boost its assortment of so-called superfoods.

According to the company, these mini-sprouts are already very popular in the UK and the US, not least for their crispness, pleasing appearance and flavour, which is milder than that of the bitter-tasting Brussels sprout.

“This is a new vegetable to win over even the skeptics,” said marketing manager Sofie Lambrecht. “Everyone’s talking about superfoods.”
