Greenyard's Stefan Reincke joins Landgard

Stefan Reincke, one of Europe’s leading fresh produce import experts, has been handed the task of transforming German vegetable marketing specialist and Landgard subsidiary Godeland into a company that can supply major retail customers with a full range of products throughout the year.

Drawing on two decades’ experience in produce sourcing – including, most recently, over 11 years as managing director of Greenyard Fresh Germany–he will lead Godeland as the cooperative’s members bid to establish a more international operation that encompasses a broader range of fruit and vegetables, including imports to complement their own offer.

Reincke has been closely involved in the fresh produce business for two decades, joining what was then Univeg Direct Fruit Marketing in 1998 and heading up the development of overseas imports as well as operational management. More recently, he emerged as a specialist in exotics, one of the company’s key growth areas.

Godeland, which markets produce grown in the northern part of Germany, was founded in 2006 following the merger of producer organisations Landgard, Veiling Hamburg and Godeland with trading firms Reimer Hauschildt and R Beckmann.

According to Landgard, Reincke’s appointment reflects a desire to provide a fuller service to retail customers in Germany by adding a single source of foreign products to what it already supplies.

“Based on Landgard’s strong regional and national sourcing expertise with its own member companies, Stefan Reincke will continue to build and expand Landgard’s international buying, sourcing and distribution expertise overseas for its strategic trading partners, with a focus on the north,” commented Armin Rehberg, chief executive of Landgard.

Reincke is expected to work with the existing sales directors of companies in the Landgard group, including Godeland, Landgard West Obst & Gemüse, Magli & Noel, Walter Pott and Landgard Ost Obst & Gemüse.
