France-based retailer Auchan is planning to expand its presence in the Russian market with the launch of six new hypermarkets this year, according to a senior board member in the country.

Ludovic Holinier, a member of the board of directors and management control director for Auchan Russia, told press that stores will be opened in locations across Omsk, Samara, St. Petersburg and Moscow, taking the group's national portfolio to 39 outlets.

Each store will average 13,000m2, Mr Holinier said, and will all carry the standard Auchan range, with 70 per cent of products manufactured in Russia.
