Mercator

Slovenian retailer Mercator has unveiled plans to open its first outlet in Bulgaria at the start of October.

The 3,000m2 store will be located in town of Stara Zagora, in the south of the country.

According to Planet Retail, the company plans to open a total of seven outlets in Sofia, Plovdiv, Varna, Bourgas and Rousse, each spanning between 3,000-6,000 square metres, by the end of next year.

'After we set foot in big cities we'll open in smaller-format supermarkets in smaller towns,' said Mercator's country manager for Bulgaria, Yordan Terziiski.
