Dubai-based airline Emirates is set to launch the first direct service between Senegal and the United Arab Emirates, according to Air Journal.

By launching its nineteenth route to Africa, Emirates will enable passengers and cargo travelling from Dakar to Dubai and beyond to save some eight hours.

The new flight, which will operate five times a week, has a freight capacity of 18 tonnes, which will be used to export Senegalese products, including fruit and vegetables.
