Root vegetable specialist Watton Produce Company has won a two-year contract to supply Sainsbury's with a large majority of its carrots and parsnips.

As a result, the Norfolk-based company has announced it is making significant changes to its personnel structure to increase productivity and sales potential as well as enhance efficiency within the company overall.

Following 35 years as managing director of Watton Produce Co Ltd, Mervyn Negus is handing over the position to his brother Graham Negus. Graham has worked within the company for some 30 years and also has a vast knowledge of the industry.

Mervyn will continue at Watton as chairman, developing new business opportunities and major projects.

The board has also appointed three new directors: Katy Negus as sales and marketing director, Chris Negus as operations director and Jonathan Plunkett as development and engineering director.

Watton Produce Company grows, packs and distributes fresh and prepared root vegetables to supermarkets, wholesale markets and food service outlets.
