Morrisons wholly owned Dutch pre-packer subsidiary Bos Brothers is moving into purpose-built facilities just a few miles away from its existing operation in the Hook of Holland.

The move will become effective on May 10 and has become necessary as Morrisons’ business has expanded since the acquisition of Safeway last year. "The Bos Brothers operation will move into a 15,000m2 facility from its old premises of 4,000m2," a spokesman told freshinfo. "We will have 12 packing lines for Dutch cucumbers, peppers and flowers. And in season, the facility will be able to handle Dutch top fruit and soft fruit. It will also label pre-packed exotic vegetables coming in from Israel and Africa. It will be able to pack 240 tonnes of peppers a week."

Produce leaves Bos Brothers on lorries for the Hook of Holland ferry port for onward transfer to Harwich where it is trucked into Morrisons' regional distribution centres in Yorkshire, Scotland and Northamptonshire.
