Jonathan Tremayne will leave his position as md of G’s Marketing to join rival salad supplier Emmett UK Ltd as its new managing director in September.
Current Emmett’s md Colin Bailey will remain on the board with responsibility for local solutions and the group’s farming activities.Tremayne’s appointment has been announced as an “additional” one.
The loss of Tremayne is likely to be keenly felt by the G’s group after a career at the company that stretched over almost 19 years when he joined the organisation straight from MDS.
News of his departure comes in the same month as G’s Marketing’s Julius Joel was recruited by Greens of Soham.
“It is a case of two people being offered fantastic opportunities,” said John Shropshire, chairman of the G’s group. Shropshire said that Tremayne has made an outstanding contribution to the firm. “Under Jonathan, G’s Marketing has seen year-on-year growth and it continues to enjoy substantial growth. He has also established a successful business in the Czech Republic.”
Emmett UK’s Colin Bailey said his firm is “delighted” with the new appointment. “It is supported by all our senior staff enabling us to find another gear for the growth and development of our group,” said Bailey. “Our business is driven by our consumers, accessed by great customers. Jonathan brings with him an unrivalled knowledge of our supply chain which I feel can help our businesses achieve the next level.”
At G’s, Shropshire admitted he had not yet decided how to fill Tremayne’s shoes come September, but added: “Jonathan has strengthened his team here over the past year. I think they will manage without him for a while, but there will be another appointment.” He said that the departure of Joel has provided opportunities for more junior staff at the group to gain “well deserved promotion”.
