The Administrators of Bomfords Limited, Dominic Wong, Andrew Peters and David Langton of Deloitte, have announced the final details of the sale of the business and assets, which was completed on July 31.

The farming business, including the packhouse at Salford Priors, was sold as a going concern to Sandfields Farms Limited, and the pack house at Atherstone was sold as a going concern to The Veg Table Limited, part of the Wealmoor Group, for an undisclosed amount.

Dominic Wong, partner in Deloitte’s Birmingham office, said: “We are pleased to announce that these transactions will safeguard at least 1,350 jobs. Customers, suppliers and employees of the companies have been extremely supportive during the period of administration trading. This successful outcome is a testament to the hard work of the workforce and our team under very difficult circumstances.

"Unfortunately, a purchaser could not be found for the business of W Bailey Limited despite extensive marketing. As a result, this business is in the process of being wound down."

Andrew Peters, partner at Deloitte, commented: "This was one of the most complex and demanding insolvency assignments we have dealt with in recent years, which involved balancing the interests of several stakeholders and maintaining the confidence of the company's major supermarket customers and its UK and overseas supply chain. I am delighted that after six weeks, we have managed to find a solution that safeguards the majority of the business and preserves most of the jobs."

Meanwhile, Bomfords Prepared Limited's business and assets sale was completed on July 27. The specialist prepared foods business, which trades as B Prepared, was sold as a going concern to Keelings (UK) Limited, for an undisclosed amount.

Wong said: “We are delighted to have completed this transaction, which safeguards the jobs of the Company's 106 employees. The B Prepared business has tremendous potential and we wish them all the best going forward."
