Mercedes is putting drive into its catering

Mercedes-Benz World has appointed Compass Group UK & Ireland to further improve its leading dining offer as the company looks to extend its catering business.

Compass, the UK’s leading catering organisation, will take the helm as of February 1 and will comprise Café 1886, the Silver Arrow employee restaurant for over 200 onsite staff, vending, conferencing and banqueting services.

Peter O’Halloran, managing director of Mercedes-Benz World, said: “Our visitors can expect to receive the same high standards from our award-winning team of chefs, and exclusive menus with produce from Jody Scheckter’s Laverstoke Park Farm.

“We have an exciting programme of events scheduled throughout 2009, including a weekend of summer concerts by world-renowned artists, and are expecting vast numbers of visitors in the form of both members of the public and corporate guests.

“With 3,000 events under our belt since our launch in 2006, we look forward to working closely with Compass to exceed our guests’ expectations and grow our offer as a conferencing venue.”

Matthew Thompson, managing director for the Sport, Leisure & Hospitality sector of Compass Group UK & Ireland, said: “We are delighted to complete the negotiation process with the Mercedes-Benz World contract in hand. The contract demonstrates the clear benefits of working with Compass; we have expertise across staff, visitor and fine dining, as well as event catering and conference & banqueting. We are therefore pleased to partner our premium offer with the exclusive Mercedes-Benz brand.”
