The juice was absent from shelves in 2009

Fruit juice giant Tropicana has reintroduced its Sanguinello juice, made from 100 per cent Sicilian blood oranges.

The product was absent during 2009 as a severe frost in the 2008 growing season damaged the Sicilian blood orange crop, which meant Tropicana were unable to get fruit of a high enough quality.

The juice is available in one litre cartons at £2.99 at Waitrose stores nationwide with the citrus sourced from the foothills of Mount Etna in Sicily, Italy.

The Sicilian microclimate provides both hot days and very cool nights with the deep red hue of the blood orange produced as the fruit protects itself from the cold.

In addition to being a source of folate, one 200ml glass of Tropicana Sanguinello provides a full portion of the recommended 5 A DAY servings of fruit and vegetables and a full day’s supply of Vitamin C.
