Waitrose Eurostar

Waitrose products will be available on Eurostar services from 30 April

Waitrose has taken its first steps into both the on-board food and northern European markets by announcing a partnership with Eurostar, that will see the retailer supply the cross-channel service with a variety of food and drink products.

The deals will see both hot and cold options, including Waitrose sandwiches, snacks, salads and ready meals, made available on all Eurostar services from 30 April.

'This is a very exciting opportunity for us to work with such a prestigious brand, which shares our commitment to quality and service,' said Waitrose business-to-business director David Morton. 'To be the first food brand that Eurostar's customers experience when they are visiting Britain is tremendously powerful as we seek to expand our presence within northern Europe.'

For Eurostar, the deal means standard-class passengers will be offered high-quality refreshments, and also means the completion of a host of recent upgrades to the rail operator's on-board catering.

'The on-board dining experience is an integral part of our passengers’ travel experience, and our new partnership with Waitrose will bring our customers the highest standard of refreshments whilst on the move,' commented Julian Welham, head of on-board services at Eurostar. 'Our British passengers will be well acquainted with the Waitrose brand, but for many of our continental customers this will be their first experience and we look forward to introducing them to the new range which includes both French and British classics.'
