Walsh Mushrooms Evesham packhouse set for expansion

The UK’s second largest mushroom supplier, Walsh Mushrooms, is expanding its Evesham packing and distribution site by 75 per cent to cope with increased demand, FPJ can exclusively reveal.

The £2million investment is set to be operational by early Summer 2015, and comes on the back of a £1m expansion at the company’s growing site in Suffolk, where six new growing houses will see production rise by a third.

''2015 will be a significant year for the growth of the Walsh Mushrooms Group,” said chairman Alan Walsh.

“Our mushroom growing farm in Suffolk has once again expanded to satisfy customer requirement for locally sourced product. This, coupled with the investment planned at Evesham, clearly demonstrates our commitment to customers and to our own plans for significant growth in the UK mushroom market.''

The company said the first mushrooms have just been picked from the Suffolk expansion.
