Spain's exporters enjoyed a positive first half (H1) of 2015, with growth in both volumes of fruit and vegetables shipped and the value brought home by sales.

According to Fepex, export volumes jumped 6 per cent on the same period of 2014 to 6.97m tonnes, while value climbed by 12 per cent to €6.74bn.

Vegetable exports rose 1.4 per cent in volume at 2.69m tonnes, and 9.8 per cent in value to €2.95bn, with tomatoes, peppers and cucumbers the leading products.

In the fruit category, berries came in at €861m, up 15 per cent, orange export value came in 27 per cent higher at €792m, and stonefruit climbed 7 per cent in value to €503m.

Fepex said that export growth remains dependent on the performance of sales in the EU markets, accounting for 94 per cent of total exports.
