Prunes are getting a boost ahead of Father's Day thanks to a new creation from chocolatier Paul A Young.

To mark the special occasion, Young has come up with a hand-crafted California prune and buttermilk truffle, which he says promises 'a flavour explosion that is naturally sweet and tangy, with an appealing texture, courtesy of the world’s premium quality prunes.'

The luxury chocolate features a 65 per cent Guittard Peru chocolate shell, California prune concentrate and puree blended with buttermilk and Duffy's 55 per cent Ocumare Venezuelan milk chocolate, then hand rolled in prune powder.

California Prune Board’s European marketing director Esther Ritson-Elliott said: “We are delighted that Paul has once again included our prunes in his innovative chocolate creations. It demonstrates his consistent approach to sourcing only the finest ingredients and is testament to his continued commitment to the pursuit of excellence.”

The chocolates are available in Young’s three eponymous stores in London, at Wardour Street, Camden Passage and The Royal Exchange.
