Berry supplier Angus Soft Fruits expressed its gratitude for the support it has received ahead of its participation at the Doddie’s Triple Crown cycling challenge

Days before next week’s Doddie’s Triple Crown cycling challenge, UK berry supplier Angus Soft Fruits has revealed that its £100,000 fundraising target has been reached, but that more donations are of course welcome.

Every pound raised is set to go directly to the My Name’5 Doddie Foundation, funding research into Motor Neurone Disease (MND), accelerate progress toward a cure and support families impacted by the condition.

“Preparations are now in their final stages,” the company said about the so-called Berry Bikers. “The team has received its sponsor tops, hoodies and official Doddie cycling kit, with several riders heading out on a further training ride this week to put the new gear to the test.”

Along with five members of the support team from Angus Soft Fruits, seven cyclists will take on Doddie’s Triple Crown – Rob Wainwright’s Ride 2026, a gruelling 800-mile cycle over four days and described by the company as “one of the most demanding endurance fundraising events in the UK”.

“The challenge holds particular significance for the business, as one of its colleagues is currently living with MND,” it said.

John Gray, managing director at Angus Soft Fruits, commented: “Reaching £100,000 before we even get on the bikes is incredibly humbling. The support from across our industry and beyond has been extraordinary, and it means everything to the families and researchers who will benefit from these funds. We’re hugely grateful to everyone who has backed the team and helped us get to this point.”

Although the target has been met, the fundraising page remains open for anyone wishing to contribute.
