Asiafruit’s annual Fresh Produce India edition shines a spotlight on one of Asia’s most dynamic markets for the fruit and vegetable business. Off the back of several landmark free trade agreements, Asiafruit editor, John Hey, details the key changes being implemented for fruit imports from the US, New Zealand and Europe, including reductions in tariffs for key categories such as apples under specific quotas.

Soma Sengputa, trade advisor at Flanders Investment & Trade, shares how these agreements may not lead to a surge in imports, but instead create a more diversified fruit basket and a gradual improvement in standards for both imported and domestic fruit.

We also cover India’s growing premium market, new packaging innovation and key brand campaigns targeting the Indian consumer.

Fresh Focus South African Table Grapes rounds up the latest developments in South Africa’s table grape industry. Fred Meintjes interviews SATI CEO Mecia Petersen on the industry’s Asia strategy as exporters look to expand into new markets in the wake of increased US tariffs. He also spotlights the industry’s commitment to varietal development, new sustainability goals and ongoing logistics challenges.

In our apple and pear feature, Bree Caggiati reports on the positive start to the New Zealand season, with a number of growers reporting excellent quality and high packouts. Both the US and South Africa have seen downturns on early apple forecasts while US pears have re-entered new markets following years of low production.

All this, plus our category features spotlight citrus, grapes, avocados and more.
