Vietnam’s Ministry of Industry and Trade (MoIT) has launched a new traceability system designed to increase transparency of product information and protect consumer rights.

Hosted on the verigoods.vn platform, the system went live on 23 December 2025 and will be mandatory for certain high-risk products, such as chemicals, as of 1 January 2026.

According to a report from the Vietnam Economic Times, this system will facilitate verification methods such as QR codes, allowing consumers to easily identify genuine products and businesses to assert brand credibility and combat counterfeiting. It will also help exporters standardise product information before accessing international markets.

Director of the MoIT’s domestic market management and development department, Tran Huu Linh, said the system would help Vietnamese businesses align with administrative reform and digital transformation goals.

“Despite the rapid digital shift, many businesses, especially small and medium enterprises, face challenges in technology infrastructure and data management. The system is expected to provide technical support, creating a common ground for traceability capabilities, thus promoting synchronised digital transformation across the industry,” said Linh.

“Businesses are encouraged to proactively register product information and obtain verification codes as the system becomes operational.”

In the coming period, the Ministry of Industry and Trade said it will continue to coordinate with ministries, sectors, localities, industry associations, and the business community to improve the system, organise training, and provide guidance on its use.
