Damco signs Abu Dhabi deal

Damco has announced that it has formed a joint venture with General Holding Corporation, named Damco Abu Dhabi LLC, to provide logistics and forwarding services to Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates.

According to Damco, the goal of the move is to create innovative solutions to industrial and fast moving consumer goods businesses in the region, so that customers will save costs through improved supply chain efficiency.

The General Holding Corporation is the UAE's largest industrial conglomerate and represents a prime mover in the implementing the industrial diversification policy of the Abu Dhabi government.

As part of the Damco link-up, the group is planning to employ some 40 new colleagues next year and set up offices in the airport and other key locations.

'The supply chain joint venture with Damco is a key element in supporting the Abu Dhabi Vision 2030 and the long term sustainable growth of the Emirate by providing a competitive link to suppliers overseas and new export markets globally,' said Suhail Mubarak Al-Ameri, director general of General Holding Corporation.
