South American air logistics provider Aerosan Chile expects to handle almost 16,200 tonnes of Chilean fruit between October and December, 5 per cent more than last year.

The company has increased its workforce by 20 per cent in preparation for the increase, and said it plans to reinforce receiving, inspection, storage and dispatch processes ahead of the new season. November will see the peak level of activity.

“The fruit season requires advance preparation and highly precise coordination of all our resources,” said Patricio Calcagno, country manager for Aerosan Chile. “This year, we have reinforced our operations to ensure we have the necessary teams and capabilities during periods of peak demand.

“Our focus is to respond safely, swiftly, and efficiently, supporting our clients during one of the most important times for the national export supply chain.”

The company – which provides air cargo logistics services in Chile, Colombia, and Ecuador and operates facilities at eight airports across the region – said logistics operations would continue to prioritise maintaining the cold chain. Efforts will also include cargo traceability and direct communication with airlines, exporters, and regulatory bodies to preserve product quality during shipments to international markets.
