Company brought together leaders, partners, growers and investors in Madrid to set out its vision for the next chapter of expansion

Local roots to global reach was the story at the heart of AgroBerries’ 30th anniversary celebration, held earlier this month in Madrid.
Founded in Chile in 1996, AgroBerries has scaled into a global berry business spanning markets, regions and the supply chain. The anniversary celebrated that journey while focusing on what the business could achieve together over the next 30 years.
The group welcomed keynote speaker Jorge Valdano, Argentine World Cup winner and former Real Madrid player and director, who shared lessons on leadership, communication, humility and teamwork, highlighting how local talent and strong relationships can create success on a global scale.
His reflections on the power of passion, credibility and simplicity resonated strongly with AgroBerries’ own journey, whilst his closing remarks on success, demonstrated how an international organisation operating across different markets, cultures and every stage of the berry supply chain, could create the ‘círculo virtuoso’ (virtuous circle), where by success, breeds future success.
Closing the event, AgroBerries CEO Jorge Varela reinforced the importance of talent and leadership for the group’s future.
“The genetics do not scale themselves. Production does not optimise itself. The programmes, the technology, the alignment – none of it happens without the people,” he said. “Our journey has taken us from local roots to global reach, made possible by our people and the relationships we have built. When I look at what an idea and the right people have built over the past 30 years, I am incredibly excited about what this team can build together over the next 30.”
The Madrid event kickstarts AgroBerries’ fourth quarter of festivities, with a social series planned for October through December, and a local event in Santiago, Chile, bringing the team back to their original roots.
