Aldi Süd has announced the return of its exclusive, homegrown strawberry variety, the appropriately named Aldina.

“The exclusive Aldina strawberry is now back in Aldi Süd stores,” the group said in a press release. “Grown exclusively on local fields in cooperation with our long-standing partner, Frutania, it has a particularly long ripening period, resulting in its unique and intense flavour.”

The discount retailer said it sourced all of its strawberries exclusively from local suppliers and farmers through the entire German strawberry season, from May to August.

It also underlined a clear promise to its customers when it comes to the product’s taste: “If the Aldina doesn’t meet your expectations,” it added, “there’s a money-back guarantee.”

Aldina was nominated for a Fruit Logistica Innovation Award in February 2025.
