Second-tier cooperative consolidates its EcoVadis silver medal and rises up its global rankings

Anecoop said it has achieved another significant step forward in its commitment to sustainability, one of its strategic priorities in its 50th anniversary year. In a recent evaluation carried out by EcoVadis – a global provider of corporate sustainability ratings with a network of over 150,000 evaluated companies in more than 185 countries –Anecoop renewed its silver medal status and rose through EcoVadis’s global ranking by improving its score from 70 points in 2024 to 76 in the last 18 months.
This places Anecoop in the 92nd percentile, positioning it among the top 8 per cent of companies with the highest sustainability ratings assessed by this global platform.
EcoVadis evaluates the extent to which companies integrate sustainability and CSR principles into their businesses and management systems, analysing their performance on environmental, social, and ethical criteria using a methodology based on international sustainability standards, including the Global Reporting Initiative, the UN Global Compact, and ISO 26000. The sustainability assessment tool includes 21 indicators across four areas: environment, ethics, labour practices and human rights, and sustainable procurement.
Anecoop’s president, Alejandro Monzón, commented: “The upward trend in our rating achieved in 2025 reflects the seriousness with which we approach our sustainability strategy, which we address from a comprehensive and cross-cutting perspective.
“Positioning ourselves among the top 8 per cent of global companies, according to the EcoVadis rating, encourages us to continue progressing and improving, supporting and guiding our members on this path, aware that sustainability is the way to ensure agriculture for the present and the future”.
Anecoop said the concept of sustainability is intrinsically rooted in its founding cooperative values. With its adherence to the United Nations Global Compact in 2020, it consolidated its commitment to sustainability; a commitment reinforced by the launch in 2023, in partnership with Kiwa R&D&I, of the Anecoop Sustainability Observatory.
This pioneering initiative measures, evaluates, and transforms data into actionable knowledge through advanced methodologies. It is a key tool and framework for assessing impacts, identifying potential improvements in the agri-food system, and aligning the strategies of Anecoop’s member cooperatives and companies with the Sustainable Development Goals, the European Green Deal, and ESG policies.
It is a comprehensive platform that combines research, data analysis, and training; this area includes Anecoop’s Sustainability Campus, a space designed to train the technical staff of member cooperatives and companies and foster the development of new professional skills.
