Alliance allows Anecoop to test biostimulants and other biotechnological solutions to help growers tackle climate change

Anecoop has signed an agreement with Planet Biotech, the first spin-off of the Centre for Research in Agrigenomics (CRAG), which develops highly effective natural biostimulants capable of significantly improving crop resilience to drought stress and high temperatures.

During a visit by the second-tier cooperative to Planet Biotech’s laboratories, Anecoop said the partnership would strengthen the collaboration between science and agri-food production.

“It is the beginning of a strategic alliance aimed at validating advanced biotechnological solutions that help the agricultural sector adapt to the challenges of climate change,” Anecoop said.

One of the main agreements emerging from this event is the launch of efficacy trials of Planet Biotech’s biostimulants in key Anecoop crops, such as citrus, watermelon, persimmon, and greenhouse vegetables, under real-world field conditions. These trials will validate the products’ effectiveness and advance their commercial scale.

During the visit, Nicolás Juste, Anecoop’s head of projects and development, and Victoria Ibáñez, head of plant breeding, explored Planet Biotech’s technological capabilities, including its biomolecule screening system, phenotyping platforms, and assays in models such as Arabidopsis, tomato, and sorghum.
