Spain’s ARC Eurobanan is to open eight new ripening chambers at its distribution centre in Madrid in response to strong consumer demand for bananas and tropical fruits. Six of the new chambers will be used for bananas, while the other two will handle the company’s expanding tropical fruit programme which includes avocados, mangoes and papayas.
In total, Eurobanan now has 30 ripening rooms for bananas and four for tropicals. The company said the extra capacity would enable it to continue providing the high quality and reliable service demanded by modern retailers.
The company said it has several deals in the pipeline to boost its product portfolio which are due to come to fruition over the coming months.
