Shipment marks a historic milestone for the citrus-growing region of Entre Ríos
Argentina has carried out its first-ever shipment of fresh oranges to Ecuador. The 20-pallet consignment contained 24 tonnes of citrus grown in the province of Entre Ríos.

The shipment was carried out in full compliance with the Operational Work Plan (PTO) signed between Argentine plant health authority Senasa and its Ecuadorean counterpart, Agrocalidad, which establishes the phytosanitary requirements for citrus exports to that market.
These requirements include the official registration of producers and packing facilities, the application of Good Agricultural Practices, integrated pest management, selection and washing processes, and mandatory cold quarantine treatment or 2.2 °C for 21 days. The operation concluded with an official inspection, fruit sampling, and the issuance of the Phytosanitary Export Certificate with the additional declaration agreed upon with Ecuador.
“This first certified export demonstrates the Entre Ríos citrus sector’s ability to meet international standards, open new markets, and strengthen the competitiveness of regional production,” Senasa said. “We continue working with the public and private sectors to consolidate the health, traceability, and quality of Argentine products exported worldwide.”
