New Zealand sorting and packing machinery manufacturer BBC Technologies will be on hand to meet European customers and talk about its latest innovations at this year’s Global Berry Congress in Rotterdam, the Netherlands.

The BBC Technolgies stand will be staffed by European sales manager Fred Douven, together with Murat Durgun – recently appointed to focus on sales for Southern Europe, Middle East and Turkey – and sales engineer Ben Fleetwood.

The company said it is excited about the opportunities that will be presented at Global Berry Congress, organised by Eurofruit Magazine on March 23-25.

“The key players in the fresh berry category will be at this event and the focus on sustainable growth is a perfect fit with BBC Technologies’ offering,” said Douven.“The berry sector in Europe is growing rapidly and customers are looking for ways to sustain and build on that growth, using proven technology that is customised to their requirements.”

BBC Technologies is enjoying rapid growth in sales in Europe, servicing its customers from an expanding office staffed by dedicated sales staff in Horst, in the province of Limburg in The Netherlands, he added.

BBC Technologies CEO Geoff Furniss said working “smarter” is the key to success in an expanding sector.

“It’s crucial to take a holistic view and keep the consumer front of mind—production gains are obviously important, but we also have to consider every aspect of the consumer eating experience if growth is to be sustained.”

The company is a leading supplier of blueberry sorting and packing machinery and offers a suite of hi-tech solutions for packing and processing berries, including a range of fruit sorting machines designed for gentle handling while being able to remove over 80 per cent of soft or damaged fruit.

BBC Technologies also specialises in fill-by-weight solutions, with its latest innovation, the CURO-16 Filling System, which attracted keen interest at recent international events, including the Southeast Regional Fruit and Vegetable Conference in Savannah, Georgia, in January and Fruit Logistica 2015 in Berlin in February.

BBC Technologies’ offering is further enhanced through its Fresh Tracker traceability software which can track individual products from harvesting and processing through to packaging and point of sale.

In addition to its expanding sales in Europe, BBC Technologies also has a growing presence in the Americas and Asia where it intends to open a new office in China in 2015.
