BerryWorld Iberia has celebrated its tenth anniversary with a a special event in Huelva, Spain, to mark a decade of growth across Spain, Portugal, Morocco and Egypt.

The berry supplier has reportedly expanded from just two employees in 2016 to nearly 50 now, and secured turnover of €71mn last year.

According to a report published by Blueberries Consulting, more than 90 per cent of the division’s berry production now comes from proprietary varieties developed through its own local breeding programmes and trial fields.

The anniversary event brought together more than 120 participants from 12 countries, including growers, customers, suppliers and industry partners. BerryWorld Group founder Adam Olins and AgroBerries CEO Jorge Andrés Varela were both present, and recognised for their contributions.

According to the company, its Iberia sales now exceed €300mn within the wider group, a sign of the area’s increased relevance.
