US cold-chain giant obtains certification for Murcia facility, allowing customers to defer duties and time their market entry
Cold-chain logistics giant Lineage has announced that its warehouse facility in Murcia, Spain, has been granted bonded status – the first time it has achieved that classification.
Bonded status allows imported goods to be stored under customs control without duties and taxes becoming payable until they enter the EU market.
According to the US-based company, it will allow import customers to store temperature-controlled food products under customs supervision until they are ready to be released to the market.
The group said that, as well as making compliance easier, suppliers into Spain would also be able to time their market entry around pricing conditions, therefore reducing unnecessary duty costs and improving the efficiency of their supply chains.
“The bonded warehouse certification in Murcia reflects Lineage’s continued investment in our European network,” said Daniel Rejón, director of business development for Southern Europe at Lineage.
“By combining customs-controlled storage capabilities with our temperature-controlled infrastructure, Lineage is continuing to provide customers with the flexibility and resilience needed to successfully operate in an increasingly dynamic global trade environment.”
