Citrosol group shot

Having consolidated a position of leadership within the Peruvian citrus trade, Spanish post-harvest solutions provider Citrosol has set its sights on tapping into opportunities within Peru’s avocado and mango industries.

Citrosol has been active in Latin America for many years and its business remains buoyant thanks to the region’s enormous potential and cultural similarities with Spain, which facilitate efforts.

“For 2013 we want to focus on our star markets – Peru and Brazil – as well as developing our expansion strategy for other countries,” explains international operations director Julio Marín. “We’ve been consolidating a position of leadership in Peru and Brazil for some time. In Peru we are now recognised as the strategic technological partner for post-harvest problems in citrus.”

Citrosol’s technical and general director, Benito Orihuel, spoke at the VIII International Citrus Seminar in April 2013, organised by the Peruvian Citrus Producers Association (ProCitrus), on how to maintain citrus freshness and quality given that the firm has been working with Peru for more than ten years, supplying post-harvest treatments such as waxes, fungicides, disinfectants and detergants, and degreening and wax application systems to the majority of Peru’s citrus packers.

“We have a partner in ProCitrus and we work with some of the leading exporters such as Agrícola Hoja Redonda and Emapac,” Marín says. “Now we are developing our services for other products such as avocados and mangoes.”
