Corpohass is confident that the IX edition of the World Avocado Congress will be the biggest in the event’s 28-year history.

The quadrennial gathering of the global avocado industry, which this year takes place at the Plaza Mayor Convention Centre in Medellín on 23-27 September, is expected to attract more than 3,500 delegates from around the world.

It will feature 145 keynote talks, 72 exhibiting companies and is expected to attract more than 1,500 delegates from around the world.

A packed programme includes 145 keynote talks and new elements such as Avotours, Avotaste, Avolabs, Avolsolutions centred on the three main themes of marketing, productivity and added value.

Delegates will have the opportunity to visit production sites in Sonsón, Oriente Antioqueño and Eje Cafetero to experience first hand the explosive growth in Colombia’s avocado industry.

Avolabs, meanwhile, will be spaces for companies to showcase their avocado innovations in the nutraceutical, cosmetic, industrial or pharmaceutical sectors, while Avotaste sessions will provide delegates to sample various preparations of typical Colombian dishes containing avocado.

Finally, the Avosolutions will provide specialised solution centres where experts from some of the most important companies in the avocado industry will participate and share their knowledge, experience and expertise.

Colombia is the second country in South America to be selected as the venue for the World Avocado Congress (the previous edition of the event was held in Peru in 2015).
