Decco stand

From this month, Spanish post-harvest solutions provider Decco will begin operations in Brazil under its own enterprise, Decco Brasil.

The move will see the company, which already has an office in the country, begin sales of its pre-harvest UV protector, Deccoshield, for application on apples, melons, papayas and pineapples.

The move comes in response to Decco’s interest in Brazil’s progress as a reliable fresh fruit supplier.

“Brazil has started to show an increasingly professional side which is important in maintaining a competitive edge overseas, above all in terms of quality,” explained Daniel Alabadí, worldwide marketing director at Decco.

In other Latin American markets, Decco has partnered with Corporación Litec in Peru to fulfil its objective of expanding services there.

In neighbouring Chile, Decco is updating its existing technologies such as ethylene catalysts like Decco Ethylene Stop for kiwifruit, avocados and bananas, among others, as well as its ethylene-absorbing filters (Decco Ethylene Free) for truck and container transport. The firm is also developing applications for existing products such as waxes for avocados, potatoes and other vegetables.
