Del Monte has been appointed a national strategic partner of the US Department of Agriculture's (USDA) Center for Nutrition Policy and Promotion (CNPP), which is currently telling citizens to 'Make half your plate fruit and vegetables'.

The vertically integrated fresh produce business will try to popularise healthy eating in the context of the CNPP's Dietary Guidelines for Americans and take part in the CNPP's sessions to advance strategic nutrition-promotion plans.

Dionysios Christou, Del Monte's vice-president of marketing, said: 'Collaborative efforts like this can truly make an impact and help take control of obesity and chronic diseases caused by poor diets and minimal physical activity.'
