Mega Image, the Romanian subsidiary of Belgian retailer Delhaize Group has revealed that it has completed the €18.6m purchase of retailer La Fourmi, which operates 14 stores in the Romanian capital Bucharest.
The acquisition includes real estate ownership of four stores, RTT News revealed, with all outlets to be converted to Mega Image outlets within the next six months. Following the conversion Delhaize will boast 38 Mega Image supermarkets in the country.
The total revenue of the 14 acquired stores hit €35m during full-year 2007.
On Friday, Delhaize Group's shares closed at US$64.13 (€43.8) on the New York Stock Exchange, up 2.17 per cent.
