Dutch fruit supplier forms strategic partnership with variety specialist and appoints its owner as global variety scout

Dutch fruit supplier EFC has entered into a new partnership with variety specialist Malus to identify and source new apple and pear varieties from around the world.

Effective immediately, the group said Malus has taken responsibility for identifying new commercial opportunities on its behalf.

At the same time, Malus owner Markus Bradlwarter has been appointed as EFC’s global variety scout.

He will be responsible for identifying, evaluating, acquiring and securing access to promising new apple and pear varieties for the business.

EFC said the it expected the collaboration to strengthen its commitment to innovation and long-term value creation for all parties within the fruit chain. “By expanding our access to high-potential varieties, we aim to deliver sustainable opportunities for our growers, licensing partners, retailers, and consumers,” it commented.

“We are excited about this partnership and look forward to a successful and productive collaboration with Malus.”
