Egypt’s agricultural export council (AEC) was visiting Moscow this week in order to conduct negotiations to overturn Russia’s ban on Egyptian agricultural exports, according to deputy chairman Samir al-Nagar.

Al-Nagar revealed that Egypt’s pomegranate exports had stopped since the introduction of the Russian ban, Almal News reported.

However, the deputy chairman pointed out that Egyptian citrus exports had not yet been affected by the ban, since the export season does not begin until December.

Russia’s ban on Egyptian produce imports was introduced following the downing of a Russian passenger plane over the Sinai Desert in October 2015.

Al-Nagar revealed that the discussions in Moscow would last for two days.
